Miami Beach Polo
This past weekend marked the return of Miami Beach Polo.
The weather was close to perfect with the blue Atlantic waters providing the perfect backdrop for a sun-kissed afternoon watching the polo ponies.
While spectators can happily watch from the beach for free. Those with tickets and badges were invited to watch from a tent adjacent to the sandy, polo field as Grey Goose and Bombay Sapphire hosted a lounge and kept the crowd in good spirits with complimentary drinks. Bombay mixologist Gary Haywayard was on hand to create picture worthy cocktails.

New Spots
Debuting tomorrow in the Design District is Prosecco Ristorante. We called to confirm and were told doors are opening Wednesday, March 31rst. Prosecco joins Fratelli Lyon, MaiTardi, and Pizza Volante serving up Italian eats in this foodcentric neighborhood.
Looking for some more novelty? Check out Tempo Miami the latest arrival to the luxury hotel scene for some pre-opening rates and a drink or two at their hotel bar.
And for something totally different there’s Oh Hell Yeah by artist Jessy Nite opening Thursday, April 1rst at KidRobot.
Saturday, shell our five bucks and catch Cinema Sounds 6 at Tower Theater. Four bands: Animal Tropical, Teepee, SlashPine, and Goatslacker each choose a cinematic scene and add their own soundtrack.
Florida Bites
The Fine Print Shoppe‘s Florida Bites t-shirt caught my eye this morning. The tee reminds me of old-school playground t-shirts.
You can order it and scope the rest of their casual style on Etsy
You can also become a fan on Facebook or follow them on Twitter
Destress Your Denim
Nothing beats the look and feel of a pair of broken in jeans. The Tommy team is interested in helping you accelerate that worn in look and feel. Tommy Hilfiger is partnering with Elle Magazine for a DIY denim distress event to introduce Hilfiger Denim to Miami customers. Expert distressing stylists will be on hand to assist customers in making their purchased denim their own.
Emporium is moving
Emporium, the adorable Coral Gables boutique is moving and next Monday, March 29th they will open in their central Gables digs. Their new address is 2606 Ponce de Leon Blvd. The relocation brings longer store hours Monday – Friday 11am – 7pm, Saturday 12pm – 7pm, and extended hours during the Coral Gables Gallery Stroll. Emporium will now also be offering personal shopping for special events. If you’re too busy to go shopping, call Emporium and they will pull together some outfits for you. I’d suggest using this service to shop for others’ birthdays, housewarmings, etc.
Charming new jewelry Kimberly Nicole
I was recently in a meeting and saw Lorelle Kahn of The Workshop rocking a charming new necklace. I asked where she scored such endearing bling and she directed me to Kimberly Nicole’s Facebook page. This is Kimberly Levine’s new line. So far my favorites are the bike and the scissors (see below).
For more images and to find out how to get your hands on your own cute necklace check out her Facebook page.
Miami Provocateur is coming back…
Zombie and vampire movies are at an all time popularity high lately and so I figured what better time to resurrect my blog. Given, my job it’ll differ slightly from what it was originally. But still you can expect a healthy dose of local events, pictures, business openings, fashion, film, art, food, and more. If you’d like your events posted then reach out to me at editor@miamiprovocateur.com
If you’re wondering what my job is then stay tuned for the About Me section.

Back on the Weekend
It’s been a really long time since the last post and just like riding a bike, one never forgets. Still, expect it to take a post or two to really jump back into the swing of things.
A good place to start is the weekend. There is plenty to do this weekend and the beautiful weather lends itself to the two ends of the spectrum of doing everything and doing nothing but basquing in the sunshine.
Here are some events for the weekend:
- Happy Hour at Mamajuana across from Merrick Park – free appetizers
- Carnival on the Mile
- Life is Art show complimentary drinks at this all day Saturday event
- Zombie Party all you can eat Hawaiian spread for $15
- Miami International Film Festival
- Official after-party for Berlin Calling at Sagamore Hotel ( a film premiering at Film Fest)

Halloween and Free tickets!
The new Miami Weekly Yelp just came out today with tons of stuff to do for Halloween:
“It’s that time of the year, ghouls and boys – when we fill our sugary caloric voids with candy corn, ladies show off their naughty sides, and everything’s just a tad bit more spooktacular. Halloween is here, folks, but don’t start calling the Ghostbusters just yet; this Weekly‘s got some costume tricks and party treats to get you ready for some of the creepiest Hallows’ Eve broohahas in Miami. Bwahaha!”
Amongst the higlighted parties on the calendar:
- The Most Interesting Show in the World at Vagabond
- 1920′s Prohibition Party at Florida Room
- Ghosts of Miami Cemetery Tour
- Rocky Horror Picture Show at Colony Theater
- more
You can even get free tickets to Gen Art’s REVERB show on Wednesday, Oct 29th. For details on the FREE-bies check out the Weekly or the Calendar listing for the email address.
